All work produced at Bass Furniture is produced by Jews in Israel at the Jewish Artist Center, at the 5,000 square foot studio in Katzrin. The studio is home to state-of-the-art wood, glass, and metal equipment, and sharp hand tools. The Jewish Artist Center also offers courses taught by its leading craftsmen, as well as providing a social and business center for an expanding artist community.
Gabriel Bass is the founder of Bass Furniture and the Jewish Artist Center. He acts as the lead designer and master craftsman. His design, woodworking, and glass blowing skills are unmatched in the business. It is the dedication that he takes with every project and the time with each client, that makes working with Bass Furniture so refreshing.
Originally from Seattle, Washington, Gabriel was trained in totem pole carving on the Musqueam reserve in Canada by master carver Richard Campbell. He continues to employ many of these same carving techniques and tools into his work today. He went on to work under carpenter Gavriel Bar-Lev in Vancouver, Canada, while simultaneously building his own business as a furniture maker and Judaica artist. He relished the opportunities to display his work at some of the most prestigious art exhibits in North America. In 2002, he made aliyah to Israel and studied glass work and design at the Bezalel Academy for Art in Jerusalem.
As well as running Bass Furniture and the Jewish artist center, Gabriel remains dedicated to his artistic endeavors as well. See Gabriel’s Artistic work.
