Laser Cut Mechitza

This unique mechitza design features laser cut wood panels, which are connected to the main structure by a central hinge. This allows each panel to be tilted individually to any angle. The mechitzas can be made portable on wheels hidden beneath the base. Handmade molding is affixed to the bottom panel for an impressive depth. Each mechitza is made to order and the laser cut design can be customized. Choose from a variety of stain finishes to match your space.

Portable Mechitzas with Laser Cut Design

This wood mechitza was originally designed for the Lower Merion Synagogue in Balacynwyd, PA outside Philadephia. It has become one of our best sellers. The unique design allows the mechitzas to be opened to various degrees. Some congregations appreciate opening and closing the space for the rabbi’s sermon, an occassional bar-mitzvah, or closed for davening. The laser cut space between the wood has been carefully balanced between visibility and modesty. We create each mechitza custom according to order, so the size proportions, top material, color, and other details can be adjusted or redesigned to suit your community.

Customize Your Mechitzah

A well designed mechitza will give a good view and feeling of access for the women. While at the same time, the mechitza must conform to some level of modesty from the men’s side, which will vary from congregation to congregation. Bass Synagogue Furniture builds custom mechitzas to suit the needs, style, and budget of our clients. Each project is designed in detailed renderings according to the specifications of our clients before it is produced. Our mechitza designs include a base of woodwork to either three feet, sitting, or four feet, standing and then a top semi-transparent material. We have found the most popular choices to be clear glass, one-way mirror, graphic printing, curtains, and laser cut wood, and sandblasted glass. We can also provide woodwork, carving, metalwork, stained glass, and pretty much whatever you can think of.
